metaphactory 3.4 Reduces the Time to Market for Knowledge Graph Applications

We are excited to announce the release of metaphactory 3.4 featuring multiple extensions and revamps to reduce the time to market for Knowledge Graph applications, increase performance and stability, and deliver a more end-user friendly experience.

Streamlined App Extension Mechanism and Best Practices

With version 3.4 we are pushing our app extension mechanism to the next level to make it even easier for application developers to develop, test and deploy apps using a streamlined and efficient process. This includes extended documentation and best practices, various examples for backend and frontend extensions (e.g., angular), as well as new functionalities such as helper functions to build multilingual application interfaces. Examples and build scripts can be found in our public Git repository »

Federation Revamp

metaphactory 3.4 delivers a complete, but fully downward-compatible revamp of the core of our federation engine Ephedra for better performance, stability, error handling and including different optimisation strategies. In addition, we added transparent SPARQL federation, i.e., the ability to federate over SPARQL repositories without explicitly specifying the location of the data.

Other metaphactory 3.4 Highlights

  • Ontodia, our main graph visualization and interaction component, is now fully composable. This means that application developers can now easily nest, layout and configure the various toolbars and interaction elements within the graph canvas space, to deliver a domain or project specific user experience.
  • A new tree visualization component (semantic-lazy-tree) is now included to enable end users to efficiently browse and search through large, hierarchical data structures.
  • Various enhancements to authoring forms and visual graph authoring have been made to deliver a more end-user friendly experience.
  • With this version, knowledge graph experts and domain end users benefit from new visualizations to explore SKOS Schemes and Concepts.
  • We added an initial version of a keyword lookup and reconciliation component to allow data scientists to connect, for example, from OpenRefine to the platform and perform entity reconciliation.
  • Support for Tableau has been upgraded to allow data scientists to connect to the platform from Tableau Desktop version 2019.4 or later.
